Myth #4: Detoxes and Cleanses — Your Body Doesn’t Need a Reset Button
Day 5 – Friday
“Detox your body” might sound appealing — but science says your liver and kidneys already do that job. A critical review by Klein and Kiat (2015) found no solid evidence that detox diets remove toxins or produce lasting fat loss. Most of the observed short-term weight changes come from severe calorie restriction or water loss, not toxin elimination.
In some cases, detox regimens can even lead to nutrient deficiencies or fatigue. A more effective approach? Eat whole foods, stay hydrated, sleep well, and let your body’s natural systems do their work.
What You Can Do Today:
- Skip expensive detox kits and juice cleanses.
- Focus on balanced nutrition and hydration.
- Support your body’s real detox organs: liver, kidneys, and gut.
