Longevity & Vitality Week
Monday – What Science Says About Living Longer (Kickoff to the Week)
Everyone wants to live longer, but what science really shows is that the focus should be on living better — longer healthspan, not just lifespan. Healthspan is the number of years you live feeling good, free of disease and capable of doing what you love.
The research is clear: longevity is built on a combination of movement, nutrition, stress management, quality sleep, and strong social connection. Genetics play a role, sure — but only about 20–25%. The rest is lifestyle.
In a 2018 Harvard study, individuals who didn’t smoke, exercised regularly, ate a balanced diet, maintained healthy weight, and drank in moderation lived an average of 14 years longer than those who didn’t (Li et al., Circulation, 2018). That’s not a pill. That’s habits.
This week we’ll break down the major levers you can control — from strength training and mobility to nutrition and sleep — all of which drive vitality.
The key takeaway? Longevity isn’t luck. It’s discipline, consistency, and stress management.
You don’t have to chase youth — you just have to stop giving it away.
